A fan of Insane Clown Posse or any other Psychopatich Records Group is called Juggalo (male) or Juggalette (female). They have their own expressions, dialect and characteristics. The term Ninja of Ninjette also refers to Juggalo/Juggalette./
The term originated during a 1994 live performance. ICP had a song from Carnival Of Carnage named "The Juggla". On stage Violent J addressed to the audience "You can't fuck with the Juggla... What about you Juggalos? Are there any Juggalos in here?" The fans took it from there and the word Juggalo was official. It was ICP's own underground cult of followers.
Thereafter the term was used for themselves, friends and fans including other Psychopathic Records artists. In 1997 they released the album The Great Milenko and the song "What is a juggalo?"
According to Shaggy 2 Dope, "Juggalos come from all walks of life - from poverty, from rich, from all religions, all colors. It doesn't matter if you're born with a silver spoon in your mouth, or a crack rock in your mouth."
Juggalos have compared themselves to a family and this gives them a strong bond. Juggalos help each other out and come up for each other. Like Shaggy 2 Dope said in the song "I Live My Life On Stage": There is a lot of love going on in the juggalo world.
Some common characteristics of identifying a member of the Juggalo subculture:
In 2011 Juggalos were officially classified as a gang by the FBI. Until this day ICP is fighting the FBI's 2011 National Gang Threat Assessment report. You can read more about it in the FBI Lawsuit section on the site.
