Insane Clown Posse gave its fans a treat for Halloween, announcing two new albums for 2015 during its annual Hallowicked concert Friday night at the Fillmore Detroit.
First up is "The Missing Link (Lost)," which will arrive on April 28, which is head clown Joseph "Violent J" Bruce's 43rd birthday. Three months later on July 28, "The Missing Link (Found)" will follow.
The announcement was made near the end of Friday's concert. Banners announcing the titles, artwork and release dates of the albums were dropped from the rafters of the stage while fans captured the moment on their cell phones. Nothing else was said about the two releases, and after about 30 seconds, the two banners were raised back up and out of sight of fans.
The two albums are ICP's first studio releases since "The Mighty Death Pop" in 2012. "Death Pop's" release was announced in a similar manner at Hallowicked in 2011.
Friday's show marked ICP's 20th annual Halloween concert in Detroit. It was a typical ICP free-for-all, with the band dousing its fans and the stage in copious amounts of Faygo soda. As per Hallowicked tradition, ICP —Violent J and Joe "Shaggy 2 Dope" Utsler — wore orange-and-black face paint, a break from their usual black-and-white motif.
The unveiling of the banners came after ICP's hour-long set, which was followed by a mini-set of songs with Da Mafia 6ix, who with ICP form the group The Killjoy Club. After the banner reveal, ICP closed the show with "Dead Pumpkins," the group's very first Halloween single, from the group's first Hallowicked concert in 1994.
